What is Single Sign On?

Single sign-on (or SSO) is an authentication scheme that allows a user to log in with a single ID and password to any of several related, yet independent, software systems. True single sign-on allows the user to log in once and access services without re-entering authentication factors.

If you already use SSO in your business, WAERlinx has the capability to integrate into your SSO ecosystem with the SAML protocol, allowing your employees to automatically sign into WAERlinx quickly and efficiently.

What is SAML?

If you think of single sign-on (SSO) as “one password to rule them all,” think of SAML as the glue that binds them all together.

Simply put, the Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML), is an open standard that allows security credentials to be shared by multiple computers across a network. It describes a framework that allows one computer to perform some security functions on behalf of one or more other computers:

Authentication: Determining that the users are who they claim to be
Authorisation: Determining if users have the right to access certain systems or content.

It also has the security benefit of neither forcing users to maintain (and potentially reuse) passwords for every web app they need access to, nor exposing passwords to those web apps.
